It’s been almost 2 weeks since the mid-term elections, and I’ve taken that time to figure out what could have possibly happened and who dissapointed me the most.

What I’ve discovered is that I’m irratated at a number of different segments of the Democatic Party on different levels.

Democratic Candidates:

Alison Lundergan Grimes was the worst offender (I might have voted against her myself had I lived in Kentucy), but most, if not all of the Democratic candidates were a huge disappointment.

• Why did the Democrats run away from the huge accomplishments the democrats have achieved over the past 6 years?
• Why did the Democrats not stand proudly with our President?
• Why did the Democrats not tell the country what the Democrats stand for?
• Why did the Democrats not make it clear that it’s the Republicans that have been STOPPING all of the Democratic legislation that would have made life a lot better for the Middle Class?
• Why did the Democrats not make it clear that the Republicans vote again and again for policies that TAKE AWAY RIGHTS and FAVOR THE 1%?

Where would we be now if they had?

Apparently these candidates don’t realize how disloyal the voters think they are.

Hey Democratic Candidates and Democratic members of Congress, when a reporter asks you a question, speak from your heart, no matter where you fall on an issue. We want honest politicians, not people who speak and vote always with a calculation in thier head of what will happen in the next election based on what they say or how they vote. SPEAK and VOTE with integrity and heart. That’s what Democratic voters want. We expect better than that.

Women Voters:

What can I say about the Women voters? Regardless if you are a Democrat or a Republican, you have allowed the Republicans to continue the War on Women. Our reproductive rights are being systematically taken away state after state and we have missed a huge opportunity to make our voices heard. Even if we couldn’t vote these neanderthal self rightous white men out of office, we have the power to make the races close enough to scare than straight.

What is one of the first bills put forward in the House of Representatives every session? A bill banning Abortion. Women have it in their power to completely change the Congress every 2 years, and the way this country is funtioning, but we don’t step up.

What are we thinking?

Minority Voters:

I  know how disallusioned some of you must be by the lack of progress being made to make your lives better, but you have to understand why progress isn’t happening. The Republicans are the ones taking away Women’s rights, Voters rights and obstructing bills in Congress that the Democratic Party have put forth to create jobs, raise the minumum wage and generally make life better for the Middle Class.

But what was the result of the election?

Minority votes took out their frustration by not voting. This tactic doesn’t solve anything. In fact, by not voting, you just made your own lives WORSE. The obstruciton will now continue by the Republicans unabated.

Minority voters had the power, even in the deep south Red states to take over both Houses of Congress. You had real change in the palm of your hands and chose to turn your back on President Obama and the Democratic Party.

YOUR VOTE is the only power you have to change things for the better. NOT voting silences you completely.

The Democratic Base:

I’m hoping that this is the one segment of the Democratic Party that voted in the mid-terms, I know I did. How do we turn this around? How do we energize the Women and Minority voters?

Now What?

For the next 2 years we have to suck it up and let the Republicans be Republicans. Hopefully they will wield thier power into a total melt down. They are drunk with power, we have given them the rope, now we wait for them to hang themselves. They may give us lip service, but they will never vote against the nastiness of their hearts.

The “cognitive dissonance” in arguing that leaders lead, President Obama needs to be assertive, cut deals, engage individual Congress members is in the article of faith that we can return to the Lyndon Johnson model. No more then the Wing T or two-hand set shot will win football or basketball games!

The error is contemporizing the past. It is a big part of the GOP ideology, and it is also the denial and hope of the liberal/left/Democrats who long for a return to era of success. Yet that success followed a long trail of citizen direct action–including street riots at the 1968 Chicago convention and physical confrontations on the convention floor.

Later, Clinton lost on welfare and healthcare. The GOP Senate led by Bob Dole passed the King Holiday bill. The senate, this December (2012) rebuked Dole, a favored elder, a wounded WWII veteran, a practitioner of Lyndon’s arts, its leader and a GOP Presidential candidate–when it voted down a treaty Dole worked the halls to support–over the farfetched idea of a conspiracy of UN hegemony over America supposedly embedded in a reporting function in the millennium goals of UN Agenda 21!

So Barack can’t lead? Who can? How many GOP senators resigned or lost primaries because they couldn’t mitigate their own voters attitudes and demands, or work effectively within their caucus? The biggest fail was Texas, where the backroom power brokers, including Rick Perry, utterly lost to Ted Cruz! (Who received fewer Latino votes than John Cornyn!).

Three times, Boehner, the ultimate old-style, power broker cut from Lyndon’s jib (he re-assigned several committee chairs, works the lobbyists, hands out favors) had to bring bills to the floor that his caucus didn’t back! With a “minority of the majority,” he passed VAWA, Sandy relief, and Fiscal Cliff legislation only with Democrat support!

Beyond current dysfunction, do we want the President to lead a return to the era of the backroom? I push for taking away more perks, like tax credits.

I must confess, I’ve been a little caught up in the Olympics and have had my politics in small doses for the past few days, but this I could not resist.

When I heard President Obama talking about Mitt Romney’s tax plan and called it Romney Hood, I thought I was going to lose it.

Earlier tonight I was watching Chris Matthews and saw this great image by Winston Smith of DailyKos.com and couldn’t resist a quick blog post.

Thanks Mitt for the inspiration to turn off the Olympics for a few minutes.

By the way, does anyone know why trampoline and table tennis are Olympic Sports?

This video is a piece of pure fiction.  Don’t get it twisted RNC, Americans aren’t stupid. You think we don’t know what “Do Nothing Congress” means? The saying should be “Do Nothing Republicans in Congress.”

I’m having a hard time understanding why the Republicans ran for Congress. To help the American people? I think not. They came to Washington to help themselves and do the bidding of the Koch Brothers. Their every thought and every move is all about how to get re-elected. Where’s the integrity in this political party?

The only legislation the Republicans want to pass is legislation taking away more and more of our rights.  If the Democrats weren’t in control of the Senate and able to stop them, I don’t know where we’d be now.  

Our fate is in our hands.  

Trickle down economics that are so beloved by the Republican party don’t work. We’ve tried this over and over and over. We’ve been applying trickle down for over 10 years and WHERE ARE THE JOBS? Don’t raise taxes on the “Job Creators?” The “Job Creators” have had the lowest taxes in history for over 10 years! WHERE ARE THE JOBS? 

The question we should be asking after over 10 years of trickle down economics is, WHERE IS THE MONEY? Not in my bank account and I’ll bet it’s not in yours either.  It’s defiantly not with the middle class, that’s for sure. I know where it is, in the savings and off shore accounts of the top 2%. Trickle Down? Don’t make me laugh.

This video speaks the truth and tells us straight up what he tried and continues to try. Had President Obama’s policies been adopted by Congress, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are now.  President Obama is not to blame for today’s economic problems, the Do Nothing Republican Congress is. He tried.

Give President Obama four more years.  It is OK to make a change, elect Democrats to Congress so we can get this fixed. If we don’t, the economic melt down of a few years ago is going to look like a walk in the park.
